Acne Scarring

Updated: Feb 8, 2019

Following severe active acne, permanent scarring can result, which can leave to self consciousness. If you suffer from acne scarring, Dr. Michelle Parsons can offer a solution for you.

The inflammation that occurs with severe acne can lead to irregular healing and loss of collagen, which is a key structural component of skin. This can result in a sunken scar and uneven skin surface.

Dr. Michelle Parsons offers several methods that can soften the appearance of sunken in acne scarring. Microlaser Peel is a laser treatment that ablates the affected skin, essentially “polishing” it down, to make the more raised areas even with the sunken area. Your skin will be red and will require heavy moisturizer and sunscreen for a week as the skin heals and remodels.

For those who do not have the ability to deal with downtime, Micro-needling is another effective method to effectively help diminish acne scarring. Please visit our Micro-needling page for more information.

Now FDA approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial acne scars, Dr. Parsons may recommend injection with Bellafill, a collagen stimulator, to remodel abnormal collagen caused by acne scarring.
