Microneedling
We at ReNove Medical Spa are pleased to be able to offer Microneedling. Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy. Microneedling improves fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, stretch marks, and other conditions by stimulating your skin’s natural ability to repair itself through the stimulation of new collagen formation, with results similar to laser treatments but without the prolonged downtime of lasers. Microneedling uses a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin.

What Are the Benefits?
Microneedling reduces wrinkles, improves tone and texture. Your skin will be softer, younger-looking and with fewer signs of aging. New collagen production from Micro-needling reverses years of sun damage. It also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as improving uneven skin tone, acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.

What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated?
Microneedling can be used on all parts of the body. Most commonly the face is addressed. Micro-needling can also be performed on the neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. Microneedling can improve stretch marks on the breast, abdomen or legs and acne scarring. Microneedling can also be used with Bellafill, a collagen stimulator, to improve acne scars.
What Can I Expect During a Micro-needling Treatment?
Prior to your treatment, our staff will apply a topical anesthetic or numbing cream. During the actual treatment, you will not feel any pain. You will feel the sensation of vibration as Dr. Parsons moves the Microneedling device over your facial skin. Dr. Parsons will also apply a Growth Factor serum that will be driven deeply into your skin during the Microneedling process, for added stimulation of collagen growth to greatly enhance your results. The procedure takes 15 – 30 minutes.

Is There Downtime From Microneedling?
After the treatment, your skin will appear flushed and Dr. Parsons will apply a Dermal Repair cream, which you may continue at home along with topical Growth Factors. It is possible to have some bruising around delicate eye tissue, and you may experience sensitivity to heat as if you had a sunburn for a few days.

What Results Can I Expect Following Microneedling?
Immediately after treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. It will appear as though you have a sunburn. You will be sensitive to heat as well. Most people will recover within 24 hours, but depending on the depth of the treatment and your skin’s sensitivity, recovery may take another 24 to 48 hours, where the skin may still appear flushed. A few days after your Microneedling treatment, your skin with glow and be vibrant from the added blood flow from the treatment and the ongoing stimulation of collagen. This is when you will receive many unsolicited compliments on the appearance of your skin! You will continue to see improvement over the next few months as your texture continues to improve, fine lines soften and pores get smaller. Results are permanent!

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Some patients may only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. For those with deeper wrinkles it is recommended to receive 6-8 treatments initially, and then semi-annually or annually to maintain healthy and beautiful skin.
Why Should I Go To A Doctor’s Office for Microneedling?
Microneedling is effective due to the depth of penetration of the fine needles to a depth that causes induction of collagen stimulation. The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has clearly designated any instrument with needles longer than 0.3 mm a Class Two or Class Three medical device, as they affect the form and function of the body and can induce a long-lasting change in the skin. The Micro-needling performed at ReNove Med Spa has needles that can penetrate as deeply as 3 mm for the most effective results.
An esthetician not working under the supervision of a medical doctor can only use a micro-needling device that penetrates no deeper than .3mm and by Delaware Professional Regulation, can not take a break in the skin and can not effect a permanent change in the appearance of the skin.
