Morning Fasting Mobilizes Fat

Intermittent Fasting

If you haven't heard about intermittent fasting, it is becoming one of the most popular methods for sustained weight loss. A recent Greek study showed that greater fat tissue mobilization can be achieved through morning fasting, even when compared to a low carbohydrate or Mediterranean style breakfast. This study utilized a 16:8 fasting ratio, where the patients only ate during a 8 hour window during the day, and fasted the rest of the time, which included while sleeping. For example, patients only ate between the hours of 11am and 7pm, and did not eat the rest of the time.

Our patients who do the best with their weight loss goals also use calorie counting as a good tool to keep themselves accountable and for best results, eating mostly non-starch vegetables and lean proteins like poultry and fish.
